Joyce recently moved here to Oil City as a permanent resident. Her husband vacationed here all his life with his grandparents. In 2000 they built a home here and continued the family tradition with their children. Now that they are both retired and their children are grown they decided to make this their permanent home. They love the activities of life on the river as well as hiking and biking here in beautiful Venango County.
Joyce is a graduate of Duquesne University. Here career was in contract dining services where she worked in many colleges and school districts in Western Pennsylvania. Upon starting her family she changed careers to a full time Mom! As the children grew, Joyce became very active at her church. She became a trained Good Shepherd Catechist which is a learning based on the Montessori type of education. She worked with children between 3 and 6 years old. As her children grew she moved up to the High School Youth Ministries as a volunteer. She loved working with the teens and went on many mission trips and retreats as a chaperone. She also volunteered with her church at the Local Food Banks, World Vision International Industries, Light of Life Missions and several other community volunteering agencies.
Joyce started seriously getting into yoga this Fall, 2019. She decided she wanted to learn all that she could about this wonderful practice. The opportunity to enroll in a 200 hour Teacher Training Class at Broad Street Yoga in Grove City presented itself and she is ever so grateful. Joyce had aspirations to become a gym teacher at one point in her life so this falls right in line with the active life style she enjoys.
Joyce is hoping that people of all levels of fitness, strength and flexibility will be inspired by her story and give yoga a try and see how it helps in all aspects of their life too!
